Most common situations
• Grinding or clenching of the teeth (bruxism)
• Muscle pain in the jaw
• Tooth wear or fractures caused by bruxism
• Snoring
• Suspected sleep-disordered breathing
At Pure Clinic, every situation is assessed individually by means of a clinical examination.
In cases of bruxism, a protective or muscle-relaxation splint may be proposed in order to protect the teeth and relieve the muscles. It is important to note that these splints mainly protect the teeth but do not necessarily treat the underlying cause of the bruxism.
In cases of snoring, prior medical advice is recommended in order to rule out sleep apnoea.
Where sleep apnoea has been diagnosed by a specialist (for example a respiratory physician), a mandibular advancement device can be made and, in certain situations, may be covered by health insurance.
In the absence of sleep apnoea, an appliance may also be offered to reduce snoring, depending on the patient's situation.
Every device is custom-made and adapted to the clinical situation.
